Gateway Youth Club    

Olufemi Onanuga received a Jack Petchey award for his dedication and willingness to attend and constribute to the progress of the Gateway Youth Club in July 2009.

Well done Femi, keep the flag flying.

Both awards were given by Mr Stephen Higginson who was a dedicated Volunteer and has now gone to train as a teacher.

Thank you Stephen, may God continue to bless you.

Sade Malomo was the thrid recepient of the Jack Petchey Award in April this year for displaying organisational and leadership skills in organising a re-launch of the Gateway Youth Club on April 4 2009. The event was hugely successful as it was attended by about 35 young people.

Eyasu Seare

 

HURRAY! Eyasu Seare has been appointed as the new youth worker on a part trime basis for Harriingay United Church-Baptist. He is trained at Oxford Brookes Univeristy in Youth Work and Theology and also at Oasis.

He is cool and calm, exciting and have about 12 years experience. He is now in charge of Gateway Youth Club and the young people in the Church. He will be working on Sunday, Friday and another day to be announced later.

You are welcome Eyasu and we pary God's blessing and success on your ministry.

Come and have fun every Friday night from 6pm to 8pm with various activities like Basket Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Internet Access, computer games like Wii and learning Musical Instruments like Saxophone and Key Board. However you must be aged between 12 and 18 with parental consent.

The first award ceremony from Jack Petchey foundation was presented to Shawn Oppon, a fifteen year old boy for excellent attendace and committment to the club since its inception in October 2006. Among the people that witness the occassion at Harringay United Church - Baptist was the recepient's parents Mr & Mrs Oppon. They were delighted to see their son getting this award. His mother commented 'he has been working hard on his GCSE examinations. Well done Shwan more grease to your elbow.

The second Jack Petchey award went to Shereen Stratchan who was nominated by her mum for hard work towards her SATS examinations. She was also commended for helping her mum with household chores. The award was presented by the Pastor of Harringay United Church-Baptist who represents the founder of the Club. Shereen's mum and her grandmum, were present at the ocassion and they were very delighted. WELL DONE SHEREEN
Fourteen of the Gateway Youth Club members went on outing to Alton Towers on August 27th 2008. This came about from their decision to use the money for the second award from Jack Petchey Foundation to Shereen for an outing. Thanks to Sam, Maureen and James who are their helpers.
